Joining the conversation.

Last schoolyear we strated to have a new course – digital marketing. It was a new and strange to us. Besides learing a lot about marketing, we were introduced to many new media tools in the Internet. That was also a new thing, because we all had used Internet a long time and we all tought we already know all the cool stuff in there and are smart . But then Andrea showed all the cool tools and channels. In this spring we started to talk more about advertisment and how they affect people. And Andrea showed us vidoes what Joseph Jaffe has made (and his channel) – we all liked the videos, they were inspiring, intresting, seductive but at the same time full with good humor. Also Andrea introduced us his book - Join the conversation.

And affecting the book we decided also to JOIN THE CONVERSATION, and make a video. Our video is about new media. And is also made with a little humor, so i hope everyone can get this. In this video the first is like more introducing part and in the second part there are questions for Joseph in accordance with the book. Here are the questions again we asked in the video :

1. how brands can get it right in this many-to-many era?
2. Is there a better channel than Internet to join the conversation?

3. What about engagement through real feelings and emotions? This is how I want brands to connect with me… Is it possible or is it asking too much?

4. How to reach consumers, without making them feel that they are being brainwashed?

5.What´s the future of advertisement?

6. People are so used to be interrupted by pointless 30 seconds spots… will they miss traditional advertisement or feel disoriented in this new conversational marketing era?

7. Where stays the line between advertisement and manipulation? I mean the morality of affecting people in such a way?

8. What do you think stops many organizations from joining the conversation?

So today we are uploading our video. I hope that everyone likes it and i hope it will have many feedback, questions and also answers to our questions

The other videos we watched was about Twitter. The first one was with Evan williams , the co-founder of Twitter. I found out that Twitter has about 6 million users . Haven’t expected that. I myself like Twitter, even i don’t use it often . But I have found in Twitter many intresting people and channels what im following. And Im mainly using Twitter to read the post of them that im following. And one suprising thing was that even one of my estonian friends added me on twitter. Because i think twitter is not so popular in Estonia and i haven’t told about it.

About the interview: In the video Evan Williams talks about how to use and what can you do in Twitter. And also he is talking about Blogger. It was intresting to hear what he thinks about Twitter . And I got new information and facts about it what i didn’t konw yet.

It was about jaffe juice talking about Twitter, he said that everyone is talking/using twitter (even him) but he reminds that you can use it but you mustn’t get obsessed with it. Every thing has is lines .

Seth Godin talked in his video abou how to come up with a good product what sales. His video consisted of examples. Examples are good way to make things to people more understandable. Also he used funny examples. I think humor is always a thing what makes people to listen you and maybe some people understand things better trought the jokes.

He’s examples and toughts:

old way: The TV-Industrial comple- come up with a way that now one expects and post/play (on TV) over and over, people will remember the product and automatically buy it in shops. Adds are too ennoying nowadays. I think that they worked good but now nobody don’t watch them. Accept when there is a really good point in it or it’s just funny.

If you now want to sell something you must…

Make something that people are talking about, be remarkable. – designe rules, safe is risky, being very good is very bad, very good is boring, must figure out who is caring. New fresh things are selling ! going for the Innovators, Early Adopters- they listen, obsessed,sell for the people who are listening and maybe they are talking to their friends about it.
